Luis Ardila

     Luis Ardila was born on October 11th 1970 in Medellin Colombia. He studied music at very young age and in 2001 studied at the Superior School of Arts Debora Arango. Languages in​University of Antioquia in 1995. Luis is a self-taught Jazz musician. He studied electric bass with Nestor Gomez, learning techniques applied to the bass such as slap, popping tapping, walking bass, improvisation, slap funk and muted grooves. He has dabbled in development of assemblies, theoretical and harmonic concepts applied on bass and management of Latin music and traditional rhythms music from Colombia such as Cumbia, Porro, Bambuco, Vallenato, etc.

     He plays 4, 5, 6 and 7 string basses. Taking great pleasure in sharing his knowledge, Luis has had the opportunity to teach at several schools in the city of Bogota and Medellin with excellent results and recognition of students. Subjects include SOLO ROCK, ROCK MUSIC, MUSIC WORKSHOP, HARD ROCK, TALLER, ARTS SCHOOL GUERRERO.. He currently serves as a bass teacher in Superior School of Arts Debora Arango in Envigado, Antioquia, Colombia.. As a professional bassist Luis has done intensive teaching, studio and session work, lectures for TV, directed ensembles, taught courses and served as a musician in several bars and nightclubs, accompanying Salsa orchestras, singers and soloists from the city of Medellin and Bogota and other countries. In addition, he has lived abroad and played in other countries such as: Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru and Argentina. Currently he leads his project LUIS ARDILA JAZZ TRIO which won first place in competition LIVE SESSION of Tec AudioVisual. In September 2015 he was sponsored by Conklin Guitars and Basses and chosen to represent Conklin basses worldwide.
